This man is a creative thinker. You can tell he puts a lot of work into creating his effects. Mental killer and MACAAN are freakin awesome, but the one that impressed me the most was MUD. Such an awesome principle that’s super clever with multiple applications. I will definitely be on the lookout for anything max releases after seeing how clever he is. IMO this was a great lecture!!!Did this review help you? He presented material that could benefit everyone from hobbyists performing for family and friends to working professionals. The Q&A had invaluable advice and I would have bought the lecture for the Q&A alone. The other two stand-out items (for me) were his take on the Spectator Cuts to Aces routine and a mind reading/multiple card revelation effect (an effect Max has kept under wraps for over 20 years).Did this review help you? Report this reviewVerified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on November 2nd, 2012I thought this lecture was a lot of fun and filled with unique insights and effects. And certainly the best interview yet. If only we all could work magic in gentlemen’s clubs. I’ve seen quite a few penguin lectures. To see the very top guys in the business fumble props, mess up sleights, and show nerves clearly demonstrates how difficult these very one sided lectures must be. I thought Max handled it as well as anyone. Did I love everything? No. I don’t agree with his thinking on the bill effect at all. In fact I hate it. But as I said on the cafe, it’s one trick in a 3.5 hour lecture, chock full of interesting stuff. Nice job, Max.Did this review help you? Report this reviewPro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on November 3rd, 2012This lecture is by far one of the best I have seen for a long time. Max is a genius in the way he thinks and develops magic. I use some of his products for quite some time now and it NEVER fails to get BIG reactions. And not only is he one of the best thinkers I know, but he is a true gentleman and knows what it means to take care about the art and the customers. And the best part is….he has a german name .To put everything in a nut shell… you cannot to anything wrong with Max’s products. THUMBS UP TWICE!!!Did this review help you? To many props, to much cards, not to mention that you have to buyapps, special decks etc. The performer seems very nervous, very bad presentation and very poor effects.Perhaps fine for begginers but very poor for magicians with knowledge.Did this review help you? Report this reviewVerified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on July 14th, 2013There seemed to be only one effect that didn’t require the purchase of something from Max and that effect was an awful lot of setup for an effect I found rather dry.I did not like his performance and he seemed to fumble a lot. He comes off as more of a car salesman as he spends much time explaining effects that can only be done by purchasing his expensive products and an IPhone. Sorry Droid phone owners. A big disappointment. I think there should be a limit of how many effects in a lecture require expensive products pedaled by the magician. I prefer Greg Rostammi for apps as his are priced much more affordablyDid this review help you? Unfortunately, I found many of the routines somewhat convoluted (serial number revelation to card trick to disappearing card to disappearing bill to bill in strange location to card on bill to… I lost track!).I also found little new in the methods — only their combination was innovative. Max’s presentation was not terribly inspired (although he was playing to a group of seasoned magicians and not a lay audience) and his technique at times painfully transparent. He demoed some very nice apps, and if you are into that you might have got your money’s worth… although the majority of the routines that he showed require you purchasing a gimmick or an app from him! More like a sales promo than a lecture. In the last five minutes he taught (seemingly begrudgingly) a nice impromptu set with cards (in the spectators’ hands no less) which was refreshingly simple, direct and usable.Did this review help you? I think his stuff is great but for some reason the lecture itself I found very blah. I should have waited to purchase this and not rushed into it. I will not use any of this stuff, maybe 1 thing for the lecture. Alot of the other stuff requires other purchases such as a special deck or online subscription. I have purchased many other lectures and to be honest this right now is the worst investment I made in terms of live lectures.Did this review help you? Report this reviewPro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on October 31st, 2012After the lecture I bought MACAAN immediately. The best ACAAN to date. I contacted Max and he quickly got me set up online with my free months for buying the lecture and the DVD.He went over many great effects that you can learn and perform without having to make any other purchases.Mental Killer is an awesome and devious app. Max’s customer service is top notch. I can’t recommend this enough!
