When I first set out to create effects that defy all known logic and reality, I aimed to only perform them a handful of times in my entire life, this is a thinking process I still hold to this day. The reason being is twofold; 1 – You only need to perform these effects just once to create a legend around yourself. Continuous use of certain demonstrations will take credibility away from you too. 2 – Due to the nature of certain methods, the effects and demonstrations can only be performed at very specific times and in very specific places. This is something that some people do not get along with however I see it in a different light. I fully admit that I cannot give a demonstration of elemental manipulation at a moment’s notice, however when the situations are right, I can produce demonstrations far greater than anything seen on TV without resorting to camera trickery. Many magicians laugh at these methods or simply don’t believe I can achieve the illusions I claim to be able to do. I see it as I am the one laughing, I see magicians who have lost their imaginations and ability to see beyond the possible. Yet here I am, doing what can’t be imagined. So let’s get back to the effect and how it all started… Al Mann was the first person to introduce me to elemental manipulation in his book The Hidden Scroll. In this manuscript, Mann outlined a method for moving a mountain using inconsistencies in data at the time and vanishing an island using volcanic activity under the ocean. Whilst I loved the methods, I always wanted a different way to vanish an island. When I finally developed my own ways to vanish islands back in the 90’s, I stumbled upon a few other quirks that enabled me to do so much more than just being able to vanish them My original method for vanishing an island is included here in the bonus section, my updated version is saved for another release I am afraid as it comes with the full presentation and an updated method to enable me to use it on any beach I desire. These few quirks I discovered allowed me to test out an idea when I visited Cyprus, a country I have previously lived in and have made some very close friends there. Gathering a few tourists on a particular evening, I attempted to part the waves so that we could cross the water to an island just off shore. Within 15 minutes the sea had parted leaving a sandy walkway to the island that we could safely cross towards. There was no presentation when I first tested the idea save sitting around a campfire and chanting an incantation I made up on the spot. The reactions I received however were out of this world which made me think this would work as a great effect given the right time, place and presentation. What I present to you now is my final effect. I have only performed this three times in my entire life, however it has probably been two times too many in my eyes.
