Description

Tulku Thondup, “The Healing Power of Mind”1998 | ISBN-10: 1570623309, 1570622396 | 208 pages | PDF | 1 MBThe true nature of our minds is enlightened and peaceful, as the depth of the ocean is calm and clear. But when we mentally grasp and emotionally cling to our wants and worries with all our energy, we lose our own enlightened freedom and healing power, only to gain stress and exhaustion, suffering and overexcitement, like the turbulent waves rolling on the surface of the ocean. Our minds possess the power to heal pain and stress, and to blossom into peace and joy, by loosening the clinging attitudes that Buddhists call “grasping at self.” If we apply the mind’s healing power, we can heal not only our mental and emotional afflictions, but physical problems also. This book is an invitation to awaken the healing power of mind through inspiring images and sounds, mindful movements, positive perceptions, soothing feelings, trusting confidence, and the realization of openness. The healing principle on which these exercises are based is the universal nature and omnipresent power envisioned in Mahayana Buddhism. Yet for healing, we don’t have to be believers in any particular faith. We can heal body and mind simply by being what we truly are, and by allowing our own natural healing qualities to manifest: a peaceful and open mind, a loving and positive attitude, and warm, joyful energy in a state of balance and harmony. As with many Tibetan expatriates, it hasn’t been all roses on the outside moving to the west for the author Tulku Thondup. But, fortunately for him (and us) he got training in “The Healing Power of Mind” from an early age, so that it was imprinted in his being for application to all situations. I highly recommend this book for those who are seeking a better frame of mind life. Thondup is deliberately non-religious so as to be of service to all Westerners, no matter what their demonination (or not). This book is a powerful tool, and if you like the label, is a powerful tool of theCognitive Behavioral approach from a a different angle…. an angle that has experienced both the need for healing and the application of healing transformation protocols for everyday life.5.0 out of 5 starsA delight to read. Practical and multidimensional.By A Customer on September 17, 1998I love this book. It brings the wisdom of Tibetan Buddhism into everyday life–whether you call yourself a Buddhist or not. It shows how you can use healing attitudes and imagery. Simple, nondogmatic, loving, and practical.5.0 out of 5 starsAwesome Little Book of MeditationsBy Ms.Bane on November 18, 2014Awesome little book of self-guided meditations for various healings such as fear, loss, health, etc. The meditations in the book are short reading but in practice can take a bit of time depending on where you take yourself with them. I really love this book and it makes a great gift especially for someone who is facing a difficult challenge.Comment One person found this helpful.
