These are the meditation practices we had to study as part of the 3 year Yogic studies course from Satyananda Yoga Academy in Australia.The practice of Kaya Shtairyam is a foundation that is beneficial for all types of sitting meditation as this practice encourages body stillness first and then mental stillness later.The practice of Antar Mauna, Inner Silence, is to encourage development of the “witness” consciousness, the one who observes without becoming involved.Ajapa Japa is a fairly active meditation practice using feeling and visualization to become aware of energy moving up and down the central channel and bringing focus and awareness to the chakras.I would recommend practicing them in the order i have laid out here in the description and certainly when i have taught these processes i have always begun with Kaya Shtairyam and moved thru Antar Mauna into Ajapa Japa.
