This program is intended to introduce you to the subtle and delightful art of “pranayama.” Sincepranayama is pleasant and soft, you need not force the breath, the mind, or the body to conform toa rigid pattern. Be kind. Just draw the breath along, feeling its intrinsic quality. There is no need tobe impatient, frustrated, angry, or forceful with the breathing. The metaphors and images used inthe program need not be grasped too literally. If you are keenly attentive as the breath is movingin and out, you’re doing well. You’re alive!Please feel no need to do all of the exercises at once. Proceed gradually over monthsof practice to cultivate the exercises. Seek out a qualified instructor if you have difficulty orquestions.
