I found this an interesting, thought provoking book. Rob endears himself to the reader in the first few pages when he says that he wants to provide succinct, practical guidance on emotional intelligence rather than string out a few ideas over hundreds of pages and bore the reader to death. Instead, he provides a clear introduction to the concept of emotional intelligence and covers three main themes:* Self-awareness* Self-direction* Interpersonal savvyThese are explained and explored in sufficient detail to make the reader think about their own actions and approaches to work and social interactions and encourage the reader to reflect upon how they could work and live smarter by changing their approach and demonstrating emotional intelligence.I particularly like the way Rob writes as he does not patronise the reader but encourages him/her to believe they can succeed in work and domestic life by adopting a few key principles.A highly recommended read for anyone looking to improve the way they communicate with, listen to, and engage with others.
