Mel Mellers has done the hard yards, starting off as a street performer in places like London’s famed Covent Garden.This two DVD set really is a lesson in how to entertain an audience with nothing more than some basic and well executed sleights and in some cases, self working magic props that many would associate with beginner magic sets. In his hands, the needle through the balloon and a book very similar to the classic magic colouring book become applause getters.I have taken one of his routines and put it into my own full time adult magic show. Try as I may to change it and add my own touches, it is so well honed the way he presents it that it’s like reinventing the wheel: the first version is the best and unimprovable.There is a real mix of effects, many of them classics. There are rope routines, predictions, Cards Across, Misers Dream, Bank Night,mentalism, and an effect with an off the shelf deck of trick cards.
