Description

Institute for Functional Medicine’s 15th SymposiumThe Many Faces of Pain: Functional Models for Assessment and TreatmentThis symposium took place May 22-25 2008 in Carlsbad California. These MP3s contain the whole conference. It is two separate products, the pre-conference, and the main conference (plenary). There is no documentation or slides – they weren’t provided in the package and are not available for purchase. Some of the later IFM products do contain slides, but this is the last one I have.About the IFM: The Institute For Functional Medicine is the World’s leading educational organization for Functional Medicine. Their seminars cost $1,000 – $2,000 each to attend, and cover the most cutting edge medicine in existence. If you are a current or aspiring health care provider then you will absolutely love these. However these are not introductory modules. I’ll warn you now, don’t waste your ratio if talk of neurotransmitters, polymorphisms and phenotypic expression don’t interest you. For the right audience this will be a goldmine of information. If in doubt just grab a couple of files and check them out.A brief description can be found below. The 15th International Symposium on Functional Medicine presented an innovative, high-definition view of pain that reveals the critical assessments and treatment plans that your patients need. The Preconference focused on the comprehensive functional medicine model for the mechanisms of pain and the collision between fatigue and pain syndromes, whereas the Plenary presentations expanded on the conventional models while exploring where pain originates and the many ways we perceive it.  The Concurrent workshops speakers provided the most effective clinical skills for a variety of pain syndromes. A reinvented and expanded approach to assessment, treatment, and management of patients with pain, leading to improved patient outcomes and satisfaction. This is the last IFM I have.
