There must be the ingredient known as honest in any esteem scheme for it to be other than a false sense of pride. Esteem is about accepting who you are while building upon your talents and gifts to become all that you might. It differs from confidence in that you may be very confident of your skills at something, say driving, and yet lack that level of genuine worth that underlies esteem.
