Description

“Yoga For Scoliosis” Video For A Home PracticeThirty years after yoga relieving her own scoliosis, Senior Certified Iyengar yoga teacher and back care expert, Elise Browning Miller, has just launched a new video and DVD on yoga for scoliosis.“Yoga for Scoliosis with Elise Browning Miller” is a 50-minute home yoga practice with three sections, approx. 17 minutes each, that can be practiced individually or in their entirety. This program provides a beginning practice for most people with scoliosis based upon a proven method that focuses on lengthening the spine, stretching muscles that have become tight and strengthening those that have become weak. Focused attention is placed on de-rotating the spine and ribs, while overall creating more balance and harmony in the body.Through this practice, people with scoliosis can take charge of their own back to achieve better posture while decreasing back pain and discomfort. This video is not intended as a substitute for medical care and should not be considered as offering medical advice or as a substitution or recommendation of medical treatment. You are encouraged to consult with your physician before practicing any pose in this video. The DVD The yoga practice itself is broken up into three segments, with Elise providing a short introduction at the start of each segment. The first, Breathing and Spinal Lengthening Poses (16 minutes), focuses on poses to stretch out the spine. It begins with yogic breathing and then moves on to standing side and wall stretches, cat pose, puppy pose, child, down dog, and lunge. The second, Centering and Strengthening Poses (18 minutes), consists mainly of standing postures, including mountain, triangle (performed with a chair), warrior 1 & 2, and wide-legged forward bend. From a face down position, there are also simple back extensions, cobra, and child’s pose. The final segment, Restorative, Releasing, and Relaxing Poses (16 minutes), includes a supported back bend (over a ball or bolster), a side stretch, chair twist, reclined hand to foot pose, revolved stomach pose, and relaxation posture. My experience: I have Scoliosis, which is a twisted or crooked spine, and it leads to a lot of back and neck pain. After I bought this DVD, it helped my scoliosis and back pain a lot, so I hope it will help you too.
