His business background includes: owner and manager of a highly successful executive search firm, and division manager and director of sales for an international plastics company, with a sales force of over 200 people. These experiences and his need to find models of communication that work led him to the development of concepts that he calls “Other Than Conscious Communication™ which is an outgrowth of his model of psychology that he calls “No Fault Psychology™.” Since his move to the San Juan Islands in 1977, he has traveled well over a million miles conducting seminars and trainings throughout North America and Europe, and his concepts which transcend traditional communication and psychological models have become highly respected tools for personal growth both in the mental health fields and the corporate community.”Dobson’s OTCC method formed the basis of Kenrick Cleveland’s Unconcious Persuasion programme. He was studied by Bandler/Grinder in the early 1970’s along with Erickson but Dobson’s contribution to NLP largely went uncredited. Dave Dobson is now growing old and suffers from poor health, but once a year, health permitting, he gives a small workshop (Funshop) to a limited number of attendees at his home in Friday Harbor, USA. These recordings contain many hours of Dobson performing his OTCC methods with a small group. There is a hell of a lot of information about communicaton, hypnosis and NLP contained in these recordings. However be warned, it is not always easy to listen to. Dobson does not explicitly teach anything, he communicates through stories, pretty much as Bandler often does. The pace is often very slow. Dobson’s poor health means he needs assitance in breathing through an oxygen mask and he is often short of breath – there are times where he has bouts of wheezing and coughing. He also has a tendency to laugh at his own jokes (even more than Tom Vizzini does!). However, if you have the patience to listen carefully to these Funshops, there is a lot of stuff you can learn.I am trying to source the 2006 Funshop recording but if I can’t get it elsewhere we can always do a Groupbuy.frisbee.
