Description

Deep Tissue Massage and Myofascial Release (Rolfing)Product DescriptionThis seven volume Video series is designed as a full Deep Tissue Course which will be extremely useful to individual therapists wishing to expand their myofascial and therapeutic skills and the way they work with tissue. In addition to the complex issues of soft tissue restrictions, osseous articulations and neurological patterns, this series clearly demonstrates countless strokes and strategies. More importantly, it conveys the qualitative art of working with tissue to effect profound change.SECTION I (Videos 1 & 2) “FUNDAMENTALS”- Palpation and Cultivation of Touch-Working with Layers of the Body- Body Biomechanics – How to Properly Use Fingers, Knuckles, the Fist, Forearm, and Elbow and Save Your Thumbs- Purposeful Strokes- Strategies to Lengthen Tissue, Free Adhesions, and Release Holding Patterns- Positioning of Your Client to Increase Effectiveness of Your Work – The Side-Lying Position to Dramatically Improve Your EffectivenessSECTION II (Videos 3, 4 &5) “STRATEGIES OF DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE”Hundreds of techniques and strategies covering the entire bodyVideo 3: Legs and PelvisVideo 4: Continuation of the Pelvis, Rotators, Abdomen (Including the Psoas and Iliacus), and the BackVideo 5: Working with the Shoulder Girdle, Chest, Arms, and NeckSECTION III (Videos 6 & 7) “ADVANCED TECHNIQUES AND STRATEGIES FOR COMMON COMPLAINTS AND INJURIES ” (Videos 6 & 7)- Foot/Ankle Injuries Including Sprains, Plantar Fasciaitis, Achilles Tendonitis- Knee Pain and Dysfunction- Sciatica- Minor Back Pain- Rotator Cuff- Tennis Elbow and Wrist- Thoracic Outlet In this video series, Art Riggs has tried to make accessible the techniques of Rolfing to theprofessional massage therapist, and has omitted the Rolfing techniques he considers inappropriate inthe hands of those without more advanced Rolfing education.  The material can be useful for the beginner as well, A good understanding of anatomy would be very useful as the terminology of the narrator is somewhat technicalat times. I’d recommend Trail Guide to the Body (the ’97 version is fine–try ebay, or half.com).  There is a book by Art Riggs that goes with the video that may bea good idea to get for people serious about this work.  A list of companion books for Structural Integration/Rolfing can be found at boulderbookstore.com/Rolf.html . How a person holds themselves over time effects the way tissues rigidify, and those patterns are translatedinto how a person moves, stands, how they feel and how they function.  Myofascial bodyworkstrives to balance the body and correct the patterns of holding a person has learned over their lives. The work can be very emotional, and the receiver of such work should be aware of the potential of the work to release feelings of fear, anger, and sorrow.  Blocking such emotion limits a person’s abilityto feel their opposites, i.e., love, joy, trust, and sexual pleasure.  If negative emotions are not dealtwith in a person’s life after deeper bodywork, their bodies over time revert back to the way they were before the bodywork was done.  The quantity of emotion a person can bottle up over a lifetime can be quiteamazing. Fantastic video. Found it most informative though I am not a physical or massage therapist. Very good video quality and well presented.5 Stars at Amazon.com!http://www.amazon.com/Deep-Tissue-Massage-Myofascial-Release/dp/B0000AJ0ESThis video set is presented in 3ivx format for your downloading convenience
