elib.tech Exclusive… sharing elsewhere will result in being banned!Class OverviewIsn’t it a bit odd that we went from Math to Science to History but somehow missed the class on How to Live? For some wacky reason, Optimal Living 101 doesn’t usually make the schedule. Here it is. (Check out the Top 10 Big Ideas from the class below!)Your Professor50% Philosopher + 50% CEO. Brian is 100% committed to helping people optimize their lives so we can change the world together. He created en*theos + PhilosophersNotes + Optimal Living 101 + Zaadz + eteamz. The Top 10 Big Ideas1. Get Your Mind Right.Optimism. It’s Principle #1 of Optimal Living 101. ALL the great teachers tell us that it all (!) starts with getting our minds right. We need to be able to put our attention where we want, when we want. If we can’t tame that crazy, drunk monkey in our mind and shape the contents of our consciousness, nothing else matters. Period. Best ways to do that? Meditation. Gratitude. No longer ruminating or comparing yourself to others. Practicing choosing your most empowered response. Stuff like that.2. Live on Purpose & Rock Your Mission.Purpose. It’s important. But we don’t need to (or want to!) get lost on an “I’ll be happy when I finally (!) figure out my purpose” holy grail chase. Yikes.Fact is, we all have the exact same purpose: To connect to the highest within ourselves more and more consistently (aka to live with areté!). Every.single.moment gives us an opportunity to be on purpose. And… We each have unique *missions* in life. The things that we and only we can give to the world. It’s super important to recognize the difference between our purpose and our mission and have fun rockin’ both.3. Develop Your Self-Awareness.From the Oracle of Delphi and the Buddha to modern science, it’s clear: We’ve gotta know ourselves. We want to cultivate a deep sense of self-awareness on both a macro-  (purpose/mission/ strengths/etc.) level AND on a moment-to-moment micro-level (when do I feel most on/off, what habits work for me/don’t, etc.).How well do you know thyself? 4. Set Goals that Will Actually Make You Happy.Happy people have projects and goals. Whether it’s meditating first thing tomorrow morning or starting your business (or family or painting or…), we’ve gotta have goals that inspire us. What’re yours? It’s also a good idea to follow scientific wisdom on how to best reach tough goals. We want to be specific, know what challenges we’ll face and goodness like that.5. Get Things Done. All that’s nice, but we’ve gotta follow Guru Nike’s advice and *Just Do It!* Are you just doing it or just talking about it?From 1-touching things that take less than 2 minutes to getting your inbox to zero and following through on your commitments, we want to become ninjas of getting things done.6. Dial in Your Energy. We’re gonna have a hard time reaching our potential if we have a hard time getting out of bed or getting out of debt. Are you honoring the simple fundamentals of nutrition/exercise/rejuvenation?The fundamentals aren’t that complicated. 8 hours of sleep. More whole foods and less refined foods. Moving your body consistently. It’s just a matter of actually doing the things we *know* are best for us. (Back to areté, eh? J)7. Approach Life As a Classroom.Scientists tell us that we can have either a “get better” mindset or a “be good” mindset. If we want to optimize our lives, it’s *really* important to adopt a “get better” mindset. The best way to do that? We want to approach life as an experiment and every moment as another opportunity to learn and grow. 8. Build Your Courage + Conquer Your Fears.Did you know the word courage comes from the Latin word for “heart.” Yep. Just as our heart pumps blood to our arms and legs and vital organs, courage is the virtue that vitalizes all the other virtues. It’s easy to be all fired up when everything is going great. But optimal living is all about moving through our fears and self-doubt and blah and doing what needs to get done whether we feel like it or not. That takes courage. Let’s conquer our fears and rock it!9. Turn Up the Love in Your Life.Love, love, love. How’re your relationships? Are you studying love like you’d study a sport or a musical instrument or a language you want to master? Let’s!10. Connect to Something Bigger than Yourself.God/Spirit/The Universe. Whatever you call the Force that beats our hearts and keeps the planets in line, it’s the center and circumference of everything. Connecting to it is a good idea. You plugged in?Back to the Greeks. They had two little words to desribe this: en + theos.  “God within.” When you’ve got God in the house, you live with a radiant enthusiasm that’s only discovered when we live in integrity with the fundamentals of optimal living!
