She started practicing yoga while studying abroad in Australia during college. She fell in love and ended up returning to the states and completed her first 200 hour teacher training on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Since then, she has almost ten years and 1,000 hours of professional yoga training. Yoga was and still is like a best friend- a reminder to be present and enjoy being in your body. It led her to self-love, strength, and the ability to create a life she loves. Sharing the gift of yoga and witnessing her students’ personal transformation, inside and out, is an honor and a privilege for her.Source: The Yoga CollectiveAbout the class:This Level 3, 40-minute class by Shayna Hiller is sure to get the blood flowing! A Vinyasa-style class focusing on arm balances and inversions as well as upper body strength, you’ll start with traditional sun salutes before moving into standing, twisting, and balancing poses.Peak poses in this series include Eagle, Crow, and Half-Moon. Eagle Pose, or Garudasana, is a standing posture designed to improve concentration and balance while strengthening and stretching the ankles, calves, upper thighs, hips, shoulders, and upper back. Crow Pose, or Bakasana, is an arm balancing inversion pose that strengthens the forearms, wrists, and abdomen, with Half Moon Pose, or Ardha Chandrasana, a standing/balancing yoga pose. It strengthens the ankles and thighs while stretching the hamstrings and improving core strengthand balance.Join Shayna on this challenging journey sure to leave you feeling energized yet relaxed, as well as detoxified and strong.Source: The Yoga CollectiveFirst off, the above description does not match the video. Their fault, not mine. Moving on…I figured after going forwards, backward and sideways, I might as well go upside down. That, and my last session by this instructor wiped me out. I figured I’d go double or nothing. She won again.Actually, this one was doable. I like handstands and learned Crow before I learned handstand (thanks to Convict Conditioning). Inversions are very healthy for body and nervous system. But they do have a lot of contra-indicators. Since gravity pulls your blood downward, being upside down causes all that blood to be pulled into the head. Which is why things like a ‘monthly problem’, headaches, high blood pressure, heart conditions, pregnancy and so on, aren’t that good for you during inversions. So be careful. That being said, there’s only one real handstand in here. The rest are other inversions. I consider this an exploratory session, to do if you’re interested in practicing inversions. If you’re looking for a well-rounded daily session, this is not it.I’ll probably do a cardio next, for those that want something faster. Provided the tracker permits it, it’s down again.Level: Advancedstyle: VinyasaFocus: Arm Balances, Inversions, Upper Body, Strength, CoreVideo: x264-Main@L4; 1280*720 (16:9); 1818 Kbps; 23.976 fpsAudio: AAC-LC; 160 Kbps; 2 Ch; 48.0 Khz
