Description

A Short Introduction to MindfulnessAn introduction to mindfulness practises and concepts that can help you to stay more present during your daily life. What Will I Learn?Students will be able to become more aware of what is happening for them in the present momentStudents will be able to apply mindfulness skills, and mindfulness-related concepts, to their daily experience in a way that helps to alleviate stressStudents will be able to apply a process that helps them to work with difficult feelings and emotions when they ariseRequirementsYou only need to be interested in, and committed to, learning about mindfulnessDescriptionMindfulness is becoming more and more popular, due in part to the ability of mindfulness practice to alleviate stress, improve concentration, and increase immune function. This micro-course introduces you to mindfulness, mindfulness-related concepts, and both formal and informal mindfulness practices that you would normally be introduced to on longer mindfulness courses, and condenses them into short bite-size lectures. If you take this micro-course, and regularly practise mindfulness, you will develop greater resilience towards stress, you will be able to concentrate with greater focus, you will be able to work with difficult emotions and feelings, and you will be able to savour pleasant experiences. This micro-course is ideal for you if you have an interest in mindfulness but don’t have the time to commit to a longer mindfulness course at the moment, or can’t find a mindfulness course locally. This micro-course is also ideal for you if you have an interest in mindfulness and would like to explore this interest. This course can also be for you if you already practice mindfulness and would like a fresh perspective on what you may already know. By undertaking this course you will develop a grounding in mindfulness, and mindfulness practice, that will give you extra confidence to explore mindfulness practice further and make it a part of your life.Who is the target audience? Those interested in learning about mindfulness, but don’t have time for to go in person to a full course. You may have tried a mindfulness app or read something about, or listened to others talk about, mindfulnessThose who have practised mindfulness and would like a different perspective on some of what they may have already learntMike FitzgeraldMindfulness and Compassion teacherI am in my mid thirties and I have practised mindfulness regularly for 5 years. I have been an accredited mindfulness teacher for 2 years. I have an MSc in Studies in Mindfulness through the University of Aberdeen, and I have trained in mindfulness-related modalities through the Mindfulness Association, Breathworks, The Institute of Consciousness Studies, the Oxford Mindfulness Centre, and the Mindfulness in Schools Project. My journey to mindfulness came about due to living with a rare, poorly understood and progressive health condition. Whilst able to work, I worked for 8 years as a Mentor with 16-19 year old students. Currently I am also studying for a diploma in life coaching. My first degree was studying Mathematical Science at Oxford University.https://www.udemy.com/a-short-introduction-to-mindfulness/
