What is Self-Talk?We all have silent dialogues with ourselves constantly whether we are aware of it or not. We also may not be aware that much of what we say in this self-dialogue is negative and self-defeating. Self-talk statements are positive affirmations that are intentionally internalized to improve what we say to ourselves.Self-Talk is not a substitute for therapy or a cure for anything. It is a natural way for us to learn to talk to ourselves in ways that support us. When we are speaking to ourselves in a positive way, we feel positive and that allows us to perform at our best. When we perform at our best, our actions support our efforts to attain our goals.How should I listen to my program?Although there is no wrong way to listen to your program, here are some guidelines to consider. It is not necessary to repeat out loud or memorize the affirmations. It is not necessary to even pay particular close attention to the affirmations – just play the program at a volume you can clearly hear and understand the statements, much like you would play the radio.When should I listen to my program?Your self-talk program can be listened to anywhere. However, some of the most effective times are:• First thing in the morning• While driving• During exercise• During rest or relaxation• Just before going to sleep at nightHow often should I play my program? When can I expect results?In order to get results, it is important to develop a regular daily habit of listening to your program. The key ingredient to getting results is repetition. Setting a daily goal of 30-60 minutes over one or more sessions is a reasonable goal. However, listen for a duration & frequency that is comfortable for you.The point at which people notice results from self-talk varies. Typically, you can expect to experience results after 3-6 weeks of daily use. However, this of course depends on the amount you use the program and your old self-talk. The more you use it, the faster you will notice the results.What results can I expect?After repeated use of your program, you will begin to notice slight changes in your behavior or responses to people or events. You may notice you feel different. You may notice your motivation increases. You may notice your performance in some area was stronger.
