Description

Notes of 2007 from Peter Harrison. Brand-new, untested ideas can be fun but often they are not practical. There is no point being revolutionary if there is little chance of success. This material is specifically aimed at the serious magician who understands that the simplest and most practical methods can be the best. The effects here are used by Peter in his working routines. They devestate laymen but are so practical that showmanship and presentation can be a main focus! If you are looking for new, knuckle-busting routines then look elsewhere for the time-being. If you want to get exceptional reactions for doing very little work, then read on!Below is a full-blown list of effects, as well the two bonus effects that you will also receive…Catalyst – Peter’s impromptu 2-card transposition that can be done with a borrowed deck and the cards can be signed. With this fluid handling, fellow magicians have sworn Peter has been using a duplicate.Strangest Card – A prediction card with a different coloured back is set aside. To rule out the possibility of a switch the spectator even gets to sign the back of the card. She then selects any card in the normal deck and signs it. When the prediction card (still signed) is turned over, the spectator is shocked to see her own signature as the prediction! No gaff cards needed in this effect.Split – Two decks used, one red and one blue. The spectator takes any (blue) and the performer uses the other deck (red). The spectator selects any card they want from the red deck and even signs it. The card is fairly lost in the deck and handed to the spectator. The magician clicks his fingers and the card has instantly jumped from the red deck and landed in the boxed blue deck. The spectator can do all the revealing themselves.Ascension – The cards are spread out and the spectator selects any card and is asked to sign it. The card is fairly lost in the deck, no breaks or crimps etc. The performer begins to focus his energy and concentrates on the deck. Half of the deck begins to levitate, leaving the bottom part in the performers hands. The top part levitates right into the performers other hand. This top half is turned round to show the levitation cut directly to the signed card. 100% impromptu.Back To Basics – A signed coin vanishes and appears in the most unreal locations. In the performer’s pocket, under the performer’s watch… even under the spectator’s own watch… But this routine is nothing. The upcoming climax fries anyone from magician to layman. The same coin appears in a deck of cards that has been boxed at pocketed and has been in the spectator’s pocket since the start. At no time does the magician help with the reveal… The spectator reaches in and does the rest himself. The coin even cuts to any card that the spectator was thinking of.Who’s Your Mamma? – Chicago Opener. Red Hot Mama. 2-card transposition. All of these are excellent effects but comedian/magician Eric Lott has combined ideas to create a great, practical card effect that gets insane reactions. This is Peter’s super-fluid handling which is incredibly easy to do. Cards change colour and there is even a signed, 2-card transpo using cards with different coloured backs.I Hate Self-Workers – Peter’s homage to the self-working card effect. Spectators do all the handling in this effect and they even do fully fair shuffles. Somehow the spectators end up with a 4 of a kind each and that isn’t even the full climax. The rest of the effect builds and builds to a climax that got Peter his first professional contract.Prehistoric Burp – An effect designed for children that gets incredible reactions from adults as well! Two cards are signed and lost in the deck fairly. The deck is touched by one of the children and the deck visually transforms into a hungry dinosaur. This dinosaur manages to reproduce the two signed cards in equally stunning ways that leave the kids laughing and the parents impressed. You Do As She Thinks – The deck is never touched by the performer. One spectator thinks of any card in the deck and never says it aloud. Another spectator takes any card they wish and turns it face-up in the deck. The first spectator reveals her card she is thinking of and the second spectator spreads his cards to show he selected the correct card. The magician NEVER does anything during this effect. This could not be any more self-working. Peter puts no effort into this effect yet he has had people crying, screaming, cursing and paying him. This description is extremely honest and this effect is exactly as described.MAGIC IN THE REAL WORLD – Bonus effects…PDA Prediction – The prediction for the 21st century. The performer makes his prediction fairly and is always correct 100% of the time. Peter tried this out for fun, not expecting the reactions to be as good as they turned out.Mind-Sight – A psychological subtlety that allows the performer (with his back turned) to tell which pocket a spectator put any two items into. Peter uses this in his stacked deck effects so he not only knows what cards have been chosen but he can “see” which card went into which pocket. What you receive is a jam-packed digital manual that will give you an insight into some of Peter’s brightest and most innovative work. 42 pages!I bought this a few months back and enjoyed it so I thought I would let everyone else enjoy it as well.
