Description

From Library JournalThe author of Pain Free returns to address the subject of pain caused by computer work. His philosophy is that carpal tunnel surgery, ergonomic chairs, and pain-killing medicines are poor choices for the treatment of this pain and that only the realignment of the body and correction of muscle weakness can fix computer-related stiff necks, headaches, and carpal tunnel syndrome. In plans for low, moderate, and heavy users of computers, Egoscue offers well-illustrated stretches and strengthening exercises. Though it is difficult to believe that all ergonomic devices are bad and that surgery is never necessary, some library patrons may be clamoring for alternative approaches to overuse injury. Otherwise, try more mainstream sources like Sandra Peddie’s The Repetitive Strain Injury Sourcebook (LJ 12/97) or Deborah Quilter’s The Repetitive Strain Injury Recovery Book (LJ 2/1/98), which were both written with the assistance of an M.D. This book is recommended only for public libraries where demand warrants.AElizabeth A. I try arranging my mouse and PC adjusting the height of my chair and table. All of these steps does not help. This book helps to explain how did the pain come about. The excercises are effective and ease the pain after doing it for only 1 or 2 days. Now the problem is to have the discpline to do them.Great book!5.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY pain free!, June 19, 2001I bought this book because I was developing wrist problems. The program has definately helped but more imporant to me – as a side benefit I am headache free for the first time in almost 10 years!I HIGHLY recommend this book If you have the time to contribute back please OCR and Proofread this book.I recommend ABBYY Finereader 10 for doing this work in an easy way.If you plan to do that please leave a comment here so the effort won’t be duplicated by others. Please post back the final pdf and I’d also appreciate the work files as well (please PM if you do).
