Coincidentally, it was published on February 14th. Patent applications are always published 18 months after they were filed. Mystery might have planned that to get some press.Method patents will take quite some time (4-6 years) to be examined – so it is unlikely that this will issue as a patent for a long time. However, a U.S.  patent grants the right to exclude anyone from using, making, manufacturing, producing, selling or offering to sell the invention.
