Description

From https://secure.aidcvt.com/chp/ProdDetails.asp?ID=97819358101…:Milton H. Erickson, M.D. was the leading medical hypnotist of his time and is generally considered one of the leading innovators in the field of directive, strategic therapy. If you have ever wished that you could have listened in on a conversation that Dr. Erickson had with Jay Haley, John Weakland and occasionally Gregory Bateson, this series of CDs is the next best thing to actually being there.Dating back to the mid 1950s some of these recorded conversations (which have been greatly enhanced) took place as part of Gregory Bateson’s research project on communication while others took place when Jay Haley consulted with Dr. Erickson about therapy. The primary value of these CDs lies in getting to listen to Erickson talk about how he did therapy and experience his style of communicating those ideas, his voice inflections, intonations and pacing. On this CD, In His Own Voice on Problem Drinkers, Jay Haley begins with a brief overview of Erickson’s ideas on alcoholics followed by a discussion with Erickson on a number of cases highlighting his interventions. Erickson describes one case where he helped an alcoholic’s wife feel less helpless by instructing her to take a sum of money equal to the amount her husband spent on liquor and using it for herself.   The four cases covered include: The Liquor Deposit; An Alcoholic Pilot; Hiding the Liquor, and The Alcoholic Who Hates Her Mother. Also Available in this series are two additional programs, In His Own Voice on Sex Therapy with the Female and In His Own Voice on Sex Therapy with the Male. Some of these recordings were published in the three-volume set, Conversations with Milton H. Erickson, MD edited by Jay Haley and also available through Crown House Publishing. If you are interested in helping to complete our collection of Erickson, please pledge towards the following group buy: you!
