The winner of numerous competitions in Guangzhou and Guangdong Province, Master Gu was the gold medalist in Women’s Traditional Chinise Taijiquan at the National Institute of Physical Education Invitational Tournament in 1984. That same year, she won the gold medal in Women’s Traditional Taijiquan at the Wuhan International Taijiquan and Sword Competition. Since coming to Canada, Master Gu has dedicated herself to the training of a large number of students in Wushu and Taijiquan. Many of her students have been selected to join the Canadian National Wushu team and compete at the Pan American and World Wushu Championship. Master Gu is the co-author of the well-received book Taijiquan: An Evolutionary Perspective.
