Quantum activists not only need to know about quantum physics but also about the purposive direction of our evolution.In this course, quantum physicist Amit Goswam introduces a new biology based on the primacy of consciousness and quantum physics. He also introduces subjectivity and heterogeneity into biology. Goswami teaches a biology of feeling. He teaches purposiveness and creativity in evolution. The new biology he teaches, being a proper biology of life, is also a proper biology for discussing life after death. In this way he talks about the reconciliation of biology with religious beliefs. Why is a New Biology Needed?A new biology is needed to bring life and consciousness into biology. Paradoxically, the current biology paradigm cannot distinguish between life and nonlife and sentience and insentience and works only to the extent that living beings can be treated as machines. However, machines do not have free will, machines cannot change making creative choices, machines do not have feeling and intuition, and machines cannot process meaning. Thus this old biology is not adequate for integrative medicine that integrates conventional machine medicine (allopathy) with alternative medicinesystems(Homeopathy, traditional Chinese medicine, ayurveda, mind-body medicine, etc) that treat disease by healing emotional blocks and wrong meanings often using quantum leaps of intuition.A new biology is needed also for quantum activism. Quantum activists are people dedicated to making personal and social changes using the principles of quantum physics and as such they too principally work on removing emotional blocks to creativity and processing new meaning through quantum leaps of creativity. The old machine biology is useless as guide for either personal or social transformation.The old biology being intended for machines cannot include purpose and values that make living worthwhile. A new biology is needed ultimately for everyone who see purpose and value in their lives and desire to pursue them.The old biology polarizes those who have a machine view of us and those with a more holistic and spiritual view of us. This separatist biology has constant feud with religion and is highly political, not a right attitude for a scientific discipline. The new biology resolves the feud between biology and religion through a theory of creative evolution that explains the famous fossil gaps in evolution that Darwinism fails to explain.The old biology depicts us as machines in a mechanical world of inanimate objects and as such it gives us no basis for ecology, let alone deep ecology. The new biology is needed to correct this myopia. D. is professor emeritus in the physics department of the University of Oregon where he has taught since 1968. He is a pioneer of the new paradigm of science called science within consciousness. Goswami is the author of the highly successful textbook Quantum Mechanics. Goswami has also written eight popular books based on his research on quantum physics and consciousness. In his seminal book, The Self-Aware Universe, he solved the quantum measurement problem elucidating the famous observer effect while paving the path to a new paradigm of science based on the primacy of consciousness. Subsequently, in The Visionary Window, Goswami demonstrated how science and spirituality could be integrated. Goswami’s most recent book, The Quantum Doctor integrates conventional and alternative medicine. In his private life, Goswami is a practitioner of spirituality and transformation.
