This new exclusive material is part of the Coaching ICF group buy. This group buy is still open & the forum is listed at: the Conversation: A Summit on the Future of CoachingAuthor: ICF – International Coaching FederationPublished: 2006Description: 1 PDF with 62 pages with bookmarks added.A forum of thought leaders in the coaching profession to discuss Coaching’s presentand future. The event was unprecedented in many ways, in large part because it took place at a critical juncture in the development of coaching. Over the past 10 or so years, coaching has undergone tremendous growth and expansion. This Summit provided an opportunity for thought leaders to step back and reflect onthat growth, to assess where the coaching discipline and profession is at the presentmoment, and to envision how ongoing development and transformation can be created and sustained into the future. The official title of the event, Evolving the Conversation: A Summit on the Future of Coaching, was carefully selected to reflect this overarching goal. While the idea for the Summit has been in the works for a number of years, the International Coach Federation Board of Directors began concrete planningin January 2006. The decision was made to enlist an outside consultant to help design and facilitate the event. The Board, staff, and facilitator engaged in a planning process that was driven by a shared desire to create a collaborative, inclusive, and interactive event. This, in turn, led to the development of a second purpose of the Summit: To foster communication and synergy in one place, for the sake of furthering coaching and the coaching profession.Visions for the Future of Coaching:• Coaching becomes so powerful, pervasive, and commonplace that it’s anaccepted and valued way of being a human being throughout the world.• There is an awareness and recognition outside of the profession that coachingis of vital importance in the world. This awareness extends to the effectiveness of coaching, its impacts, how it crosses boundaries (cultural, socio-economic, etc.), how it is transformational, how it improves communication, how it develops interconnection, and how it embraces and provides venues for working with complexity.Challenges Facing Coaching:• The need to foster more collaboration among coaches and coaching programsand move from acting independently from each another (“I” and “me” orientation)to being aligned with each other (“we and us” orientation).• The lack of a clear and compelling public identity for coaching. How do we wantcoaching to be perceived? What does coaching actually offer? What does coachingdeliver?• The words and language used to describe coaching, including the need for definitional clarity and how various coaching practices are communicated to clients.• The need for a more rigorous theoretical foundation , philosophy, and body ofknowledge.• The challenge of integrating the spiritual dimension into coaching.• The need for a continuum of growth for all levels of coaches. There was strong agreement to continue the conversations that were initiated atthe Summit. A few of those conversations involving some of the attendees have already been set. There are many, many other conversations that will need to take place to realize the possibilities and promise of this Summit, though they still need to be planned and nurtured. And there was strong agreement to broaden the dialogue to include others who were not at this event. So the Summit is not the end. It reflects the beginning of what is sure to be an exciting, stimulating, and provocative set of conversations about the future of coaching. If you are interested in Coaching, this is professional material that may help you.The web page for this material is at:http://www.coachfederation.org/research-education/icf-shoppi…Please keep this a elib exclusive, thanks.Contributors: Ratio FreeElite/VIP: 3 weeksPower Users (PU): 7 weeks or contribute to this group buyUsers: Upgrade to PU or contribute to the group buy at:, Mazen
