Homer Liwag – Coin One

Homer Liwag – Coin One
[2 DVDs – Rip]

Description

CoinOne itself is incredible. Without a doubt the cleanest coins across routine I’ve ever seen…and highly visual. 4 coins visually travel from one hand to the other, one-by-one – with palms up, open hands. After the first 2 have travelled, you openly toss the 3rd coin over…only to show it hasn’t happened yet and there are still 2 coins in each hand. I love this part – great stuff. For the ending, you have to vanish the coin using “your favourite method”. Homer teaches his very visual Melt-away Vanish, which is perfect for the routine. I love this, and I’m going to be using it for other things as well. It’s not too hard to get used to the basic sleights involved. Watch over the DVD a few times and you’ll have memorised the sequence of moves – then you can work on getting them down. Like Homer said, the real difficulty is the timing and finesse of executing the moves. I’m nowhere near performance level at the moment…but I’m working on it. It’ll definitely worth the effort, this is the best coin routine I have seen. You might be thinking it’s hard to learn when the performer doesn’t speak at all – but it’s not hard at all. It’s actually a lot easier in my opinion…there are no background distractions which could get in the way of your learning.CoinOne is taught from the performer’s view, with a close-up view of the hands so you can see what is happening. Written text/subtitles accompany the visuals to aid you in learning the effect; there are also several animation drawings, which are very cool and useful. This is something I haven’t seen before. When first starting off there’s a lot to remember, but the DVD makes the routine very easy to learn. Going back over it a few times helps.CoinOne does use a simple gimmick, but there’s also a totally impromptu version on the DVD called “The Deep”. This is performed and taught by Chris Kenner. It’s very good for an impromptu routine – I wasn’t expecting much, but was surprised when I saw it. When I have the chance I’ll always be using CoinOne, it’s much more visual…but The Deep is perfect for situations when a spectator asks you to perform and you don’t have anything on you.The production of the DVD is absolutely insane…hands down, the best magic video I’ve seen. The performance sections are shot in high-quality video with great lighting, and the teaching sections are a combination of video, written subtitles and drawn animations. The animations are very good. The smooth, pumpin’ background music is really nice, and suits the DVD style well.
