By the late 1800s Pierre Vigny created one of the most complete and effective European stick fighting systems ever devised. During the early to mid- twentieth century a number of military, police and martial arts establishments utilized the Vigny system for their own use. These groups included the Kapap and Pal’mach Special Forces along with the inclusion in a 1940s supplemental manual for the United States H2H combat teams.During the early 1920s Superintendent H. G. Lang of the Kathiawar Agency Police introduced a training syllabus for his men based on the Vigny method.
