If you have an older version of Adobe Acrobat Reader already on your system remove it, otherwise go to step 2.   a) To remove an older version click on the Start button, go to Settings and   click on Control Panel.   b) Double click on Add/Remove Programs and select Adobe Acrobat in the list   of applications already on your system then press the Add/Remove button.   This will start the uninstaller to remove Acrobat Reader from your system. c) When this is compete you are ready to install Acrobat Reader 4 from   the CD-ROM.2. Double click on the Reader Installer icon on the CD-ROM.3. Click on “Next” twice.4. Acrobat Reader is now installed.——————————————————————————–HOW TO START UP THE MANUAL OF ACUPUNCTURE CD——————————————————————————–1. Double click on “A Manual of Acupuncture” on the CD-ROM.2. Click “Accept” (to accept Adobe Systems contract).3. Click anywhere on the opening page to enter the CD-ROM.——————————————————————————–HOW TO USE THE SEARCH FACILITY(SEE HOW TO USE THIS CD-ROM FOR AN EXPLANATION OF ITS USES)——————————————————————————–1. Locate the Search icon in Acrobat’s toolbar (at the top of the visible page).   The icon is a pair of binoculars with a page behind it (to the right of the   Open Web Browser icon – a circle with a W in it).2. Click on the Search icon.3. Click “Indexes”.4. Click “Add”.5. In the window that comes up, locate the “A Manual of Acupuncture” CD-ROM and   open it.6. Double click on “index.pdx”.7. You will see ‘A Manual of Acupuncture’ appear in the Index window with a box   to the left of it that has a cross in it. This shows that you have   successfully loaded the CD index to enable you to carry out sophisticated   Search functions.   ——————————————————————————-WHY DO I GET A MESSAGE ASKING FOR ANOTHER CD-ROM WHEN USING THE SEARCH OPTION?——————————————————————————-This is probably because you are using both The Journal of Chinese MedicineCD and the Manual of Acupuncture CD at different times. It may also bebecause you are using another CD we don’t know about which also uses AcrobatReader Search. The answer is ….. If you change CDs you may need to reset theindex. First click on the Search tool. Then click on ‘Indexes’. Make surethe correct box is checked for the CD you are using. For example if youare using A Manual of Acupuncture CD, the box next to the text A Manualof Acupuncture should have a cross in it. If The Journal of Chinese Medicinebox has a cross in it, click on it to remove it. Do the opposite if youare using The Journal of Chinese Medicine CD. Peter Deadman
