Several times a year Gil Fronsdal offers a 5-week instructional series for beginning meditators, in the form of Vipassana meditation, a form of meditation from Buddhism. Wikipedia says:”Vipassanā means “insight” into the impermanent nature or anicca of mind and body. Vipassana is one of India’s most ancient techniques of meditation, rediscovered by Gautama Buddha 2500 years ago. It is a way of self-transformation through self-observation and introspection. It focuses on the deep interconnection between mind and body, which can be experienced directly by disciplined attention to the physical sensations that form the life of the body, and that continuously interconnect and condition the life of the mind.”These classes provide a good overview of insight meditation practice as well as many guided meditation sessions which help the student learn how to establish and sustain a daily meditation practice.The handouts for the course, which are given at the end of each class, are in the product as pdfs.
