This email has lots of little bits of gold in it, and also has a crass commercial message….So – Read it at your own risk…. So we sat down at table 27 recently, and ended talking with some folks who have a boy on heroin.Calibration could be just a little important here, if we want to help them save the kids life. Not that bull shit pore size calibration, like you said in your email. That doesn’t cut it here. We need to help them help their kid, NOW! So as with most folks, there is not a great distinction between identity and behavior. The entire family adopted the “he’s an addict” model, and of course, it’s not easy to change identity. Especially if there is a payoff in keeping the old identity. (John starts changing ID here…) So we covertly shifted their processing of their experience into “behavior”. Some of that was done with linguistics, neuro linguini style, some was done by very covert use of gesturing. This isn’t spatial anchoring, far more subtle. More about that below. When people use identity statements, about themselves or others, their hands move a very specific way. “I am an addict” looks very different than “I have this behavior”. And both are treated very differently. I’m sure you can imagine the possibilities in sales, and in family relationships, and that J on the list can imagine putting that into picking up college coeds. So first calibrate what they are doing with their hands, on a identity / behavior level, so then you can elicit change very fast. Take it a step further, like we do on our brand new Golden Moments 3 cd set…. yes another crass commercial message… and you then… Let me ask you this? Ever lose “some thing”? Of course! It’s very easy to lose a thing. More difficult to lose a behavior. Very unlikely you can get someone to change their identity, unless you play like we do. So if we can shift our self through Identity, Behavior, and this thing that you have… both linguistically and physically… rapid movement occurs – effortlessly.
