Description

In this 68-minute long video, Daryl teaches his FISM Gold Medal winning Ambitious Card routine. This trick is Daryl’s favorite, and his performance is a virtuoso display of card magic, which concludes with the deck being wrapped in rope, the signed card placed in the middle, and arriving on top! It truly looks impossible! The video starts with a performance of his routine in front of a real audience, which gives you a chance to see how he misdirects and handles the crowd. Then, he takes you step-by-step through his routine, teaching sleights, and tipping the gaffe about how to make his Ultimate Ambition gimmick. After this, Daryl shows you moves he doesn’t use, but may be useful when YOU construct your own routine. He also tips the Pop-up card, by Frderick Braue, as seen in David Blaine’s version of the Ambitious Card, on his Street Magic show. This is a WONDERFUL ending to the routine, so don’t despair if you can’t make or buy the gimmick, this move is just as good! Daryl is an excellent teacher, and the video, apart from being broadcast quality, is great fun to watch again and again. Complaints? Well, my fear is that some magicians will treat this like Dai Vernon’s Cups and Balls; because it is so good, they think that no other routine is worth doing. This is wrong. Whilst I use segments of Daryl’s routine, some moves are my own, as is the patter I use with them. Likewise, it is a long routine, suitable for a close-up show. When I perform it, I do 4 or 5 returns to the top and finish with the Pop-up card move. Otherwise, it can get boring fast (unless you’re Daryl!) Please, no carbon-copy routines!! One Daryl is enough! Likewise, this is by a top magician for magicians version of the Ambitious card in places; it impresses us guys, but doing those fiddly moves for the audience won’t make any difference to their reactions. However, if card magic is your forte, then this video is ESSENTIAL!
