Cook and A.E.Van VogtVery good book on Hypnosis. Some review:I first picked up this book in the 1970’s or 1980’s, when I was so enthralled about hypnotism, mind control, meditation, astral projection, time travel. The book was so brilliantly written and easy to understand, given my frame of mind. Then years later,I happened to attend a weekend seminar about teaching you the techniques for self hypnosis, and to my most joyous surprise, the handbook for the seminar was my old friend “The Hypnotism Handbook”. Having been hypnotised by the instructor, I was then able to hypnotise myself, and I managed to lose weight, quit smoking and visualize harmony in my life. I am 71 years old and in perfect health, thanks to the “Hypnotism Handbook”. I recently bought the book again to help me achieve other wonders in my life.***My parents, being contract cleaners found this book in a bin to be thrown out. It sat on my shelf for ages, until a bad break up. I picked up the book and read it in desperation to get some sort of control back over my life. It worked. This book has actual induction techniques. It was written as medical textbook for a Psychiatrist to assist his patients to calm down and focus. As you read the first couple of chapters, it actually inducts you into a trance state. Then as you continue to read, it strips away the conscious layers of your mind, and shows you how to get straight into the unconscious. It allows you to set up triggers and program yourself. Make no mistake, this is powerful stuff. It allows you to calm your mind, and set up responses to behaviors. Through reading this book, I’ve found that hypnosis is similar to meditation, it allows you to enter into a trance state through breathing, visualization, and relaxation techniques. You can mediate while running, while counting, while breathing. This book as applications for hypnosis from anything to child birth to dentistry. Within a week I noticed my fingernails had grown. I had stopped biting them, unconsciously. Using the techniques I’ve learned, I’ve had minor fillings done without anesthetic, I’ve dealt with highly stressful emotional states, I have used them to deal with deep tissue therapy, and muscular pain. The techniques have their limits, they can wear off, but again it depends on how well you practice them, and how often. Above all, this book instills a sense of ethics in you as you learn and study, and those have become ingrained. I’ve used the techniques on two people, but only with their permission, and it certainly helped them. The book teaches you to work with only positive words and techniques. Over ten years on, and the triggers I have laid down with this book still work. I highly recommend it as a tool to open your mind, and as a form of mental control and focus.
