[20 MP4]

Description

If you like the course please give us a rating and a review!  Spread the word! This course goes over the many different ways you can slide and glide around the dance floor, including Michael Jacksons famous “moonwalk”. You will be taught exercises, drills and vocabulary moves ranging from complete beginner to intermediate moves. Rob (the instructor) teaches from his home town dance studio and includes slow motion, varied angles, close ups and annotations to help improve the learning.  You will need to put the practice in and also stop and rest when you need to, as the moves are quite intensive on certain leg muscles.  The course lasts approx. 1 hour, and will really help those who are trying to understand exactly how the illusion of the slide/glide actually works.Rob is also available for any questions regarding the video so if there is anything you are stuck on then just ask!The thing with gliding is that it looks easy, but at first it really isn’t.  Don’t expect results too quickly and don’t be disappointed if you don’t see an improvement as soon as you would like.  Keep practicing, take your time and with discipline and perseverance (like most things in life) you will get there! If you like the course please give us a rating and a review!  Spread the word!SECTION 1:Slides and Glides training course1Demonstration and Intro01:24PreviewWatch the instructor in action and see some of the glides and variations you will be learning on this course!2Exercises01:45Learn a few exercises that will help you when learning how to glide.  This is not here to serve as a full warm up.  Please consult your doctor or physician before doing any exercise.SECTION 2:Vocabulary 13Floating03:50The float is the precursor to the basic glide.  This move has a basic foundation of “Toe and Heel”, and “pivoting”.  When you master this technique it will help in your glides as well as your overall dancing.4Basic Glide07:15PreviewThis “Basic Glide”, is not actually that “basic” and is actually quite “difficult”. It is, however, the foundation to which the other variations and vocabulary moves are built on.  Keep practicing and if you find it difficult then go back to the previous “float” exercise and switch between the 2.  This will take some time especially if you are new to gliding.  If you find this too difficult then try some of the other sections.  Remember that this dance “thing” is a long journey so don’t expect results straight away.  The things that are worth it are usually hard to achieve!5Glide Variation – Temp control and big steps01:36Learn different techniques to help the basic glide – Tempo control can add an effect that looks cool and also helps you use the music more, as if the music slows down you can slow down too!  And vice-versa if the music speeds up.6Glide Variation – Step and Glide04:38Learn different techniques to help the basic glide – the step and glide is another simple but effective variation to help you increase your control with the glides.7Glide Variation – Step in front03:07Learn different techniques to help the basic glide – the step in front adds a more dynamic quality to the glide.  Again, if you find this difficult then keep referring back to the earlier tutorials such as the “float” or the “basic glide”.8Glide Variation – Box Glide02:02Learn different techniques to help the basic glide – The ultimate in the basic glide variations as it lets you travel around the dance floor!  This effective variation will really step things up and allow you to entertain from all sides of the dance floor!SECTION 3:Vocabulary 2 – Walks and Runs9Walk on the spot 103:40A different type of slide with a great effect of walking on air, or walking on a conveyor belt.  With this you will remain still but appear to be walking.  The key to this move is balancing on the toes, as you will also find with the other glides and variations.10Walk on the spot 204:06A quicker version than the one previous and gives a more hovered look.11Run on the spot03:32One of my personal favorites and one that always gets people smiling.  Again using the toes to keep you balanced.  This one definitely puts stress on your calf muscle so be careful!  It looks easy though but it is not.12Back Slide (Moonwalk)04:03The classic!  The one that everyone knows and loves…the moonwalk.  Did you know that the one Michael Jackson does isn’t even the real moonwalk?  Watch and learn!13Front Slide02:40The reverse of the “moonwalk”.  Again using the toes to help you balance.SECTION 4:Turns14Glide turn 105:03If done correctly this can be a great way to begin your gliding when on the side.  A powerful yet smooth entrance.  Try and keep your head still and again those toes to keep your balance.  Remember to be careful and rest and stretch when you need it.15Glide turn 205:25This turn is more difficult as it requires more balance and control to really pull it off.  You need to be able to switch your weight smoothly.  You may need to come back to this one until you have mastered the “basic glide”, the “float” and the first “turn”.16Glide turn 304:26This spin can be as easy or as hard as you make it.  try the basic half spin to add dynamics to your gliding, or go for the longer spins (1 or 1 and a half etc) for the ultimate in smooth transitions!  Make sure you rest those legs/toes/calf muscles!SECTION 5:Intermediate vocabulary 117Glide Variation – Front to Back03:08This glide requires balance, control and finesse which will take a lot of practice to get right.  You will have to practice so the your toes don’t collide with your heels when doing the transition from front to back.  This will most likely be one that you will have to come back to.  remember that perseverance is the key!18Snake Glide04:40The snake glide is an awesome glide that people don’t usually see.  The trick is to be able to do more than one thing at a time with your feet.  Add that to the smooth balance and control and you have a great looking glide.  This uses the toe and heel techniques as well as a new foot sweeping technique that will take practice – and may make your shoes dirty so wear old ones to practice in!SECTION 6:Freestyle demo and Tips19Gliding tips00:22A few tips to help your glides!20Freestyle demo01:40Check the instructors demo and then try and create your own gliding video.  Submit yours to Street styles 4 All!  Sales Page: https://www.udemy.com/learn-how-to-street-dance-slides-and-g…
